ARC+: Day 19 – Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Somehow I thought as it was Thanksgiving day that things would be different when I looked out over the ocean, but no, same looking waves, same looking wind, same roll of the boat. But today was different. This evening marked the half way point across the Atlantic. The point of no return where turning around and going back would be longer than continuing to push onward.

Thanksgiving dinner consisted of whatever we had that was next to go ‘off’. All the fresh fruit and veg were distant memories and next to spoil were two cabbages and a chorizo sausage. Vegetables that are leafy spoil faster than root or bulb vegetables so we had potatoes, shallots, onions, and garlic available for the pot.

Boiled down the cabbages with three onions, put the chorizo in towards the end with a good helping of mustard and Montreal steak seasoning (garlic, salt, pepper) then reduce to a simmer and we have the main course like a polish type stew. Kira made some excellent mashed potatoes and Karin some cornbread to complement it and that was TUIs first Thanksgiving dinner at sea, literally in the middle of the (Atlantic) Ocean.

No other problems to report.

Slow and steady.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
