Departed Phraxia Oasis Beach for Lefkas Marina, departing at 0810 and arriving in Lefkas at 0920. Hosed the deck off and filled the tanks with good fresh water. Had a service person from Paleros come out and diagnose the Garmin rudder sensor malfunction. Three weeks to get a replacement part to us. Ughh, 62 euros for diagnosing and 300 for the new sensor. The current sensor was inside the autopilot motor so made better sense to get an external sensor to replace it.
DESTINATION: Lefkas!
The stories of Sappho’s suicide and that of Artemisia of Caria jumping from the cliffs at Cape Lefkada are related to other myths linking the island to the ancient Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. The island is also linked to Odysseus, the hero of Homer’s Odyssey. The German archaeologist Wilhelm Dörpfeld, performed excavations at various locations of Lefkada, suggested that Lefkada was Homer’s Ithaca, and the palace of Odysseus was located west of Nydri on the south coast of Lefkada.
