Departed Almerimar at 1145 and arrived at Motril at 1740.
Great, small marina very personal customer service. Borrowed bicycles from the Marina and rode into town up the hill for dinner. Quite a ride. Quite a steep road, but a lot of fun. It was nice to get our legs moving again and get some exercise.
This was one of those split personality cities again. If you just stayed in the marina you wouldn’t know this large bustling town up the hill had fantastic bars and restaurants and such a local vibrant feel. Had dinner at a nice restaurant on the square and cooked our own pork sausage over flames in .. a ceramic pig!
It was a great ride back down to the marina .. all the way down and we flew. Not much traffic luckily that evening.
Nice small bar situated in the marina office which is in the middle of a ship yard, Great to watch everything coming and going will sipping on a cold one.
There was a big, noisy Cemex cement ship getting loaded up at night.
I guess they filled it up at night so that no one hears or sees all the huge clouds of dust that was blowing out of their holds.
Marvelous Motril!
Motril is synonymous with sugar and sugar cane. The process from sugar cane transformation into various types of sugar, even liquors like the cherished rum of Motril, has always been the basis of the local economy. Sugar refineries were for many years the “future” of the city. Now they are one of Motril’s legacies and the city now houses a total of eight.
