We departed Capri for Procida at 0655 arriving at Procida at 0932. Got a great spot outside the breakwater at the old fishing village below the castle. There were rows of stacked pastel colored buildings. Very Beautiful. A quick swim to cool off and then we took the dinghy into the village. Very hungry, so track down a well reviewed Patisserie. After a 25 minute walk on a super hot day on the way back to the old fishing village we went the wrong way and ended up on the other side of the island. LOTS of tourists and it was the charter base for Sunsail. It was such a different frentic, touristy vibe from the other ‘slower’ side of the island. Walked back to other side and up and into the castle to explore it. People still live up within the castle walls and it was not abandoned as we expected. We should have paid attention to a large formation of Cumulus clouds. Hindsight is 2020. Another swim to cool off and to check the anchor and we decided to have dinner on board. Checked the weather, and it was supposed to be 7 knots from the south, moving to the west. We were well protected from the west, but if it went to the west, we would be exposed. Check out the next blog for what happened next!
DESTINATION: Paradise in Procida!
Procida is one of the three Flegrean Islands off the coast in the bay of Naples in southern Italy. The island is between Cape Miseno and the island of Ischia. Capri is the most famous of the three islands and gets the most visitors, Ischia is known for its 100+ natural hot springs.
The Amalfi Coast is nearby south of here, and anyone with an interest in history will love visiting the Roman ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum.
