After a long day mostly motor sailing we arrived at Milos. The city marina is pretty open to swells coming into the harbor, but when we were there they were quite small. One of the few remaining places to med moor with the stern to the dock was at the very end of the finger. Very handy!
Met a lovely German couple who owned an Elan that shared a lot of their knowledge and tips.
Found a good store close by and provisioned for 4 days and after stowing it away while relaxing in the cockpit, a couple of men swung by who introduced themselves from Atherton, CA. On the AIS they recognized that TUI has her home port in Redwood City, CA, and as they were the next small city over they came over to say hello. They were shy about letting us know that they were chartering a boat. Why? Well the boat they were chartering is the one in the pictures that was 8 stories tall and chartered for 880,000 euros/week! Nice guys and nice boat.
When we left the next day unfortunately our anchor got fouled on old mooring lines and it was impossible to free by maneuvering the boat. Had to tie back up to the dock again and Michael snorkeled down and cut us free. Hooray!
Its great having capable sons.
After refueling, we had a delayed departure and headed off for an 11 hour sail around the bottom of the Peloponnese peninsula into the Ionian. It was going to be long and rough.
Messing around in Milos.
